The position is available for a term of 3 years initially with the possibility of an extension.
Your role
The goal is to combine methods from graph theory, logic, and combinatorics to the development of highly efficient algorithms that come with guarantees, and to investigate mathematical conjectures in the area.
The position includes teaching assistance of 5 SWS (5 x 45 min per week). This can be done in German or English. An intention to learn German is appreciated.
Applicants for a postdoc position: a habilitation is possible and supported, the position is a 3-year position initially, with the possibility of an extension for another 3 years after a positive evaluation.
Applicants for a PhD: the position is a 3-year position initially, with the possibility of an extension to finish the PhD.
Your Profile
• Candidates should be fluent in mathematical proof techniques and have a background in at least one of the following areas of computer science/mathematics:
o graph theory and algorithms, in particular fixed-parameter algorithms,
o property testing and sublinear algorithms,
o logic, preferably algorithmic model theory or database theory.

岗位4:学界招聘|以色列巴伊兰大学招募算法博士后
About the position
New full time postdoctoral positions are available in the Modern Pattern Matching (MPM) Algorithms Group at the Department of Computer Science of Bar-Ilan university, Israel.
The main fields of the group research are algorithms analysis, data structures, distributed computation algorithms, graph algorithms, big data algorithms and computer science theory.
The group is led by Professor Ely Porat, includes several postdoctoral researchers and PhD students, and has very close work relations with other faculty members in the field (among them Prof. Amihood Amir, Prof. Moshe Lewenstein, Prof. Liam Roditty, Dr. Tzvi Kopelowitz and Dr. Arnold Filtser).
The group also includes some guest professors; For example, during the passing year, professor Seth Pettie from the University of Michigan spent half a year as a full time researcher in the group and professor Arseny Shur from the Ural Federal University has joined the group as a guest researcher for the coming years.
The group has very good international partnerships and many good cooperations with researchers around the world. It is worth noticing the significant common work with professor Cliff Stein from Columbia University, which has done a lot of common work and mutual visits and meetings with members of the group.
We are looking for researchers in a mature stage of their academic capabilities, with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or Mathematics and with strong publication record in Theoretical Computer Science. Our threshold for applicants is at least three papers accepted to top tier conferences (e.g. STOC, FOCS or SODA).
The positions will be for an initial year with the possibility of extension. The postdoc may pursue his/her own line of research but a focus related to the existing research areas of the group is very welcome.
How to apply
Please send your application (including a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and the names and contact information of at least two references) to recruit.postdoc@datalab.cs.biu.ac.il.
Please attach relevant documents as pdf files.

岗位5:学界招聘|法国阿莱斯高等国立矿业学校招募博士后(optimizing workstation ergonomics)
About the position
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) currently account for 87% of work-related illnesses and are particularly prevalent in 7 sectors: transport and logistics, commerce, agri-food, construction and public works, cleaning, metalworking, and personal care (source: ameli.fr). Reducing MSDs at work requires a complete assessment of a workstation, and this involves a twofold difficulty: (i)multidisciplinarity (biomechanical, ergonomic, cost-cutting and energy considerations) and (ii) considering the actual movements of operators, which can differ significantly from the theoretical models established for a position.
In this context, the OPERGO-TMS project (Carnot M.I.N.E.S Projet fédérateur 2022 santé) will combine the skills of several research teams on:
• Motion capture (IMT Mines Alès and Mines Paris)
• Characterisation of gestures (IMT Mines Alès and Mines Paris)
• Optimisation using mathematical tools (Mines Saint-Étienne and IMT Mines Alès
• The use of virtual or augmented reality techniques to design workstations (Mines Paris).
After the motion capture phase (IMT Mines Alès and/or Mines Paris platforms), the proposed solution will help define the correct gestures to be deployed and taught to employees in Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality. These technologies will be used to improve workstation design (tests and validation will be carried out with industrial and hospital partners). They will make it possible to arrange objects or actions in space for verification with mathematical optimisation models. The aim is to find out whether the spatial and temporal scheduling of the various actions proposed in the space is viable from an algorithmic point of view.
The person recruited will be involved in the following phases:
• Propose human-centred mathematical models (linear and non-linear programming, combinatorial optimisation)
• Inject motion capture data into the proposed models. The starting point will be based on the movements that we are seeking to optimise (minimising drudgery, maximising ergonomics, etc.) and on the economic indicators (minimising costs, maximising service rates, etc.)
• Retrieve the instructions and algorithmic decisions recommended by the mathematical models and pass them on to the other partners so that they can be modelled using Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
• To help decision-makers choose between (i) correcting postures by giving recommendations to operators, (ii) proposing other trajectories that are more ergonomic and less painful for operators and (iii) reconfiguring the workstation (spatial and temporal reconfiguration, or redistribution of tasks between a robot (repetitive or painful tasks) and a human (expert tasks).
The person recruited will be required to work closely with the consortium partners and will be involved in the publication of the project\s scientific contributions.
Job requirements
PhD with a major in Computer Science, Operations Research, or Industrial Engineering.
The person recruited must have the following skills:
• Problem modelling, algorithms, and programming
• Combinatorial optimization and data analysis
Additional knowledge in one of the following areas would be appreciated:
• Machine Learning
• Modelling and analysis of human movement
• Virtual and/or augmented reality
The candidate must be motivated by the application aspect and IT development.
